Inserting Documents, PDF and PowerPoints

Print Friendly

Besides inserting images, video and audio files you can also upload other file formats such as Documents, PDF and PowerPoints directly into your posts and pages.

This doesn’t embed your file in your post or page so you can view it directly embedded in the post (or page); it inserts a link to the file.

When readers click on the link to the file it either opens up in another web browser or downloads the file onto their computer. This is handy for providing documents such as class notes, assignment information.

If you would like to embed an actual document, you can use Scribd.  All you need to do is upload your document to Scribd and then embed using Scribd URL.  You can embed PowerPoints using online tools like Slideshare or Google Presentation.

Tips for uploading files

You can insert files from your hard drive into posts or pages using exactly the same procedure as uploading video and audio files provided :

  • It is an allowed file format.
  • Allowed file formats on Edublogs Include: jpg jpeg png gif doc pdf mp3 ppt wmv mp4 xls ins isf te xbk notebook m4a ist kmz kes mov flp avi swf wxr xml wav fjsw docx pptx xlsx xml m4v max kmz zip
  • The file is not larger than 32 MB
  • You have adequate blog storage space available.
Tip:
  1. Use only letters and numbers in file names.  Unusual characters in file names can cause problems with the file URL and may cause the file not to work.
  2. We recommend you use one word file names as the file name is converted to the file URL.  For example, mydoc.docx
