Plugins extend and expand the functionality of your blog. They provide extra features such as threaded comments, ability to add audio or video comments, ability to subscribe to comments.

Plugins are available on Edublogs supporter blogs and Edublogs Campus blogs only!

About Plugins

Edublogs is powered by a customised version of WordPress MU. While there are over 4,000 plugins that you can use on single installs of self hosted WordPress most of these won’t work on WordPress MU.

All plugins installed on Edublogs have been throughly tested and customized to ensure they are compatible and don’t cause problems. You can’t upload plugins to your blog.

To Activate a Plugin

  1. Go to Plugins > Installed in your Dashboard Image of plugin menu
  2. Click on Activate below the desired plugin Image of activating a plugin
  3. Some of the plugins provide an administration screen where you can set options specific for that plugin. Most are located in the Settings menu however Askimet is located in the Plugins menu. Image of plugins configuration
  4. Some widgets also add widgets to your available widget area which you access via Appearance > Widgets
  5. To switch off a plugin click Deactivate
