You activate the threaded comments feature as follows:

1.  Go to Settings > Discussion.

2.  Select Enable threaded (nested) comments

3.  Scroll to bottom of page and click Save Changes

Please disable threaded comment plugin before enabling threaded comments via Settings > Discussion.
