Your avatar is an online representation of you.

Types of Avatars

There are two types of avatars:

1.  User Avatar

The user avatar is also known as your comment avatar.

You upload the user avatar via Users > Your Avatar and it displays in places where you leave comments and next to posts you publish on some themes.

Below is an example of a user avatar next to a comment.

2.  Blog Avatar

The Blog avatar is uploaded via Settings > Blog Avatar and it is displayed in your sidebar when you add the Blog Avatar and on Edublogs Campus sites in the Blog Directory and Blog Listing.

Creating your avatar

Most schools don’t allow students to use photos of themselves on blogs and get their students  to create avatars that is representative of them.

Some students draw their avatars then take a photo of the drawing to use for their avatars.

Once you’ve created the avatar you can save the avatar by either:

1. Right click on the avatar and select “Save Image as” or “Save Picture as” to save a copy on your computer
2. Take a screenshot of your image (use the Snipping Tool or PrnScrn)

Avatar tips

1. Most online avatar tools create rectangular images whereas your user and blog avatar are square.
2. Allowed image formats are jpg, gif, and png.  For best results use jpg.
3. We recommend you edit your avatar or photo to 200 pixels wide by 200 pixels high using an image editing program such as Picture Manager, MS Paint or iPhoto before uploading.
4. If you still see the old avatar after uploading your new avatar it may be your web browser remembering your old image.  Hold the Ctrl key and press F5 to clear your browser cache.

Uploading your User Avatar

Uploading your comment avatar is as simple as:

1.  Resize your image to 200 pixels wide by 200 pixels high.

2.  Go to Users > Your Avatar.

3.  Click on Browse and locate the avatar you want to upload.

4.  Click on Upload.

5.  Move the crop area to one corner, then expand the crop area to include your full image and click Crop image.

6.  Now when you view a post where you’ve left a comment you will see your new comment avatar.

1. Please note if you still see the old avatar it may be your web browser remembering your old image.
2. Hold the Ctrl key and press F5 to clear your browser cache.
