Directly above your Visual Text Editor toolbar is your Add Media area which consist of a row of four icons. These are the icons you use to insert images, photo galleries, videos and audio files into your posts.

You use the Add An Image icon to add images to blog posts by either:

A. Uploading an image from your computer
B. Linking to the location of an image on the Internet
C. Adding an image from your media library

Please note:

You can’t just use any image you like in a blog post.

Unless stated otherwise the law automatically grants full “copyright” over any creative work a person makes.

Refer Enhancing posts by adding images to learn more about copyright, creative commons and using images from digital cameras

A. Uploading An Image From Your Computer

Video

Watch the video below to learn how to upload an image from your Computer

use your Shift or Crtl key to select more than one image

4. Click Open to start uploading the images.

5. While your images are uploading you will see a progress bar.

If you upload more than one image you need to click on the Show link to edit the image details and insert the image into a post (refer to these instructions for inserting a photo gallery).

6. In the image option screen you need to:

7. Your Add an Image window should be closed and your image should now be inserted in your post.

About Image Size

When you upload an image it automatically creates a thumbnail and medium size versions of this image. You can choose to insert Thumbnail, Medium, Large or Full Size images.

It is good practice to resize your image to the size you want to use in your blog post before uploading and then insert into your post as Full size image.

As a general rule:

To make image use entire width of your blog post area: resize image to 450 pixels wide

To wrap text next to image then resize image to 150-200 pixels wide

You are able to change the size of thumbnail and medium sized images under Settings > Miscellaneous.

When you upload an image you are given three versions that you can insert into the post:

Thumbnail (150 x 150 pixels)

Medium (300 x 300 pixels)

Full Size

You are able to change the size of thumbnail and medium sized images under Settings > Miscellaneous.

When you insert an image into a post using the “full size” option, the image is automatically resized to a maximum width of 500 pixels. This is to prevent problems of wide images in blog posts caused when people post photos straight from digital cameras.

How wide an image can be depends on your blog theme. Some themes 500 pixels is too wide and the image will flow into your sidebar area. While other themes can cope with images wider than 500.
