You add students as users to the class blog if you only want students to publish posts on the class blog using Posts > Add New and don’t want to your students to have their own individual student blogs.

The easiest way to add students as users is using My Class.

My Class isn’t automatically enabled on Edublogs Campus blogs.  Please Edublogs support if you would like to use My Class on a Campus blog.

Set up My Class

How is how you set up My Class for adding student users:

1.  Go to My Class > Create a Class

2.  Select “This is a class blog”.

3.   Select your preferred moderation under “Allow Students to post on the class blog”

  • Yes, no moderation – students can publish their own posts on the class blog using Posts > Add New.
  • Yes, with moderation – students can submit posts as pending review using Posts > Add New and the posts aren’t publish until checked by a teacher.

4.  Ignore options under moderation on student blogs and privacy.  These settings only need to be changed if you set up individual blogs for each student using My Class > Create Student blogs.

4.  Select which users you want to manage your student accounts.

5.  Click Save.

The My Class menu should change to show the following menu items.

Add New Users

You use this option if your students don’t have an existing Edublogs username.

1.  Go to My Class  > Add Student Users

2.  Add the student username, their email address, the password.

We recommend you use the preset password option and record their username/password in a spreadsheet as you create their accounts.   Some teacher require students to informed them when passwords are changed so they have a record of the student’s latest password.

This is handy for those students who forget password or provided the wrong email address.

3.  Click Submit.

4.  Students are added to Users > All Users and are assigned the role of Student.

The Student role is controlled by the settings you have set in My Class > Class Settings.

Add Existing User

You use this option if your students have an existing Edublogs username.

1.  Go to My Class  > Add Student Users
